Future Proof Regeneration Technologies
The Purifier e4 range uniquely brings together three popular regeneration technologies offering choice and peace of mind.
- Purifier e4 Hybrid – is a DPF system which provides the best possible passive regeneration performance. It is optimised for Euro III engines operating inside the M25 and backed up by Clean Diesels “Performance Guarantee”.
- Purifier e4 Highway – is a DPF system utilising Clean Diesel’s unique ‘MPC catalyst technology’ (a sinter-resistant precious metal catalyst). The product provides a durable, high performance, low maintenance solution as well as an upgrade option to Purifier e4 Hybrid. It is used by fleets in mixed and highway operating conditions. This allows LEZ compliance at a fixed cost whilst maintaining flexible modular upgrade options if operating conditions alter.
- Purifier e4 Urban- is a fuel borne catalyst (FBC) system which utilises Clean Diesel’s Platinum Plus Fuel-borne Catalysts (FBC). Platinum Plus delivers catalytic properties without the need to use valuable precious metal catalytic coatings on the DPF. This results in a wider operational and application range for DPF’s in general and allows London LEZ compliance at a low initial purchase price whilst maintaining an upgrade option to Purifier e4 Hybrid if required.
- Purifier iAD diagnostic technology is an ‘Intelligent Additive Dosing’ and diagnostic technology used in retrofit applications. It is designed to minimise operating and maintenance costs, offering integrated vehicle and DPF diagnostics and when required, fuel borne catalyst dosing. iAD monitors both DPF and customer defined vehicle parameters.
In addition to in-cab alerts, the iAD system utilises a GSM-radio enabled ECU which can be fitted with a SIM card to deliver real time diagnostic signals via SMS messaging when maintenance attention is required. It is also programmable and capable of delivering on-demand diagnostic information remotely, via any mobile handset or SMS browsing software.
Upgrading your Clean Diesel System could not be easier as Clean Diesel leads the industry with flexible upgrade options for all three technologies:

Mixed Phase Catalyst (MPC®) Technology
At Clean Diesel we invented and own a fundamentally unique and patented material technology for the development of catalysts. Our technology significantly improves catalytic performance and is highly durable and cost-effective. We have developed unique nanostructures that are thermally stable and resistant to sintering enabling superior catalytic peformance over time and at extreme temperatures.
MPC Advantages
Superior catalytic performance
Our propretary MPC® Technology has enabled us to produce catalytic coatings of significantly better catalytic performance than previously available. Our unique nanostructure technology enables the oxide catalysts in its compounds to resist sintering or fusing, thereby maintaining a high catalytic surface area. As a result in Heavy Duty Diesel (HDD) and automotive applications our catalyst formulations are able to maintain high levels of performance over time using substantially lower platinum group metals than products previously available.
Significant cost advantage
A significant benefit of our catalyst technology is that it offers performance equal to or exceeding that of competing catalytic coatings with a 30% to 80% reduction in PGM loadings.
Wide range of catalyst application
Our proprietary technology is a design approach not just a single chemical formulation. This has enabled us to develop a platform that can be tailored for a range of applications. The oxide compounds can be adpated for specific applications by adding them to a wide range of chemical elements. We are able to vary the mixtures of compounds to create customised solutions for complex HDD equipment for the OEM and the retrofit markets.
Proven durability
Clean Diesel products and systems have undergone substantial testing by our customers and have demonstrated their durability and reliability in a wide range of applications for many years. They have also achieved numerous certifications and match or exceed industry standards
Manufacturing process
We have developed an innovative and sophisticated manufacturing process for coating substrates using our MPC® catalytic coatings. Our manufacturing process consists of mixing specially formulated catalytic coatings, applying the coatings to ceramic substrates, then firing the coated substrates in a furnace. This complex process of mixing and applying the various types of coatings onto high cell density substrates is extremely complex. Our first generation manufacturing line currently producing coated substrates for several vehicles, has satisfied all requirements for process control, accountability and quality required by our automotive customers. Our second generation line has process control up to three times better than our first and operates at significantly higher throughput.
Fuel-Borne Catalysts Products
Platinum Plus fuel-borne catalyst offerings improve fuel combustion to:
- Reduce emissions and enhance the performance of emission control systems, and
- Increase fuel economy and reduce the carbon footprint of engine applications. These premium benefits are attributable to a unique combination of both in-cylinder and post-combustion effects.
Platinum Plus enhanced in-cylinder combustion
Catalysts are an essential part of any emission control strategy. Traditionally, catalysts are used in solid-state form to treat the exhaust stream after leaving the engine. Clean Diesel’s fuel-borne catalyst approach is unique in that it brings catalytic action into the combustion chamber through the fuel to act not only in the solid state, but also in the liquid and gaseous states. The unique three-phase catalytic action of Platinum Plus in the engine provides three key combustion mechanisms, contributing to a new level of performance and emission control:
Solid state: Small amounts of the catalysts are deposited on the metal surfaces of the combustion chamber, promoting a uniform flame front by catalytic activation throughout the combustion cycle.
Liquid state: The uniform distribution of the catalyst within the fuel allows for a faster burn at a lower temperature. Platinum Plus catalysts are fully fuel-soluble, rather than suspensions. In this way, using Platinum Plus avoids the potential for inconsistent combustion from non-uniform catalyst dispersion, storage instabilities or mechanical wear or injector clogging effects.
Gaseous state: Catalysation effects continue through the vapour phase to provide complete combustion. Our patented platinum-cerium formulations are designed to work with platinum as a highly effective oxidation initiator and the cerium co-catalyst as an efficient oxygen carrier.

The net results of enhanced in-cylinder catalytic combustion are:
- extended power across the entire crank angle cycle, resulting in additional available energy and improved utilization of fuel
- reduced engine-out emissions (less soot, hydrocarbons, CO and CO2).

Flexible deployment
Platinum Plus can be used with on-board dosing systems to reliably treat fuel, or can be added directly to bulk fuel for fleet operations. In dosing deployments, ultra-concentrated formulations are available to support “fit for life” type applications, minimizing or eliminating the maintenance logistics associated with an additional on-board fluid.
Additional performance and maintenance benefits of Platinum Plus:
- Visibly improves smoke and exhaust opacity
- Enhances fuel water shedding, lubricity and stability
- Superior detergents work with the catalysts to help keep injectors, valves, fuel and combustion systems clean
- Less soot build-up in lube oils can result in lower viscosity increase and reduced maintenance
- Improves cleanliness and durability of engines operating with turbochargers and exhaust gas recirculation systems.
